Marathon Coaching Consultants is a marathon/running coaching company in Phoenix, Arizona since 2007. We have coached hundreds of runners of all levels and ages both here in Phoenix and remotely for races from 100 meters to marathons.
Meet David Allison – Competitive Runner
David Allison, the founder and head coach of Marathon Coaching, has been running and competing for nearly 40+ years now. He ran Division I track and cross-country for the University of Pennsylvania, as well as post-collegiately in his 20s and 30s and now at the masters level. David is an All-American Masters athlete in the 800, 1500, mile and 5000 meter distances. He holds Arizona state age-group records in the 800 m, 1500 m, 5000 m and half-marathon. He ran a 15:36 5k and 4:27 mile at the age of 44, has a marathon personal best of 2:27.17 and took 50th overall in the Boston Marathon in 2006.
As a coach, David has dealt with all levels and ages of athletes for nearly two decades. He has coached countless adults to successfully complete their first 5K to marathon distance. David has created, coached and managed numerous marathon training group programs (YMCA, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, Team in Training, Lost Boys) for groups of up to 50+ athletes. He formerly coached high school track and cross country in Chicago, Los Angeles and Phoenix (Mountain Pointe High School) for over 8 years. David was the head coach for Gateway Community College’s track and cross country teams for three seasons and for the past four years has been one of the head coaches and co-founders of the USATF youth track club team (Phoenix Flyers Track Club) in Ahwatukee, Arizona. Coach Allison is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach.
Writing/Running Expert/Guest Speaker
David has been sought out for his running insights in Runner’s World articles and other running publications both in print and online. David has also written numerous articles, commentaries and blog posts in regard to running and fitness for nearly a decade. Lastly, David has been a guest speaker at running events, for running/triathlon and youth groups over the years as well.
For over two years, David worked for Athlinks – the leading endurance results company in the world – where he coordinated street teams for endurance events, created a very successful blog and was in charge of email marketing for endurance races looking to promote their event to Athlinks members.
David has also been involved in race promotion, race directing and endurance race creation for over 7 years.
